Telcordia gets DoT license for MNP execution


Telcordia, US based fixed, mobile, and broadband communications software and service provider gets approval from Department of Telecommunications (DoT) to implement the mobile number portability (MNP) service in India. This announcement comes after the application filed by Telcordia, and received the final clearance from the Foreign Investment Promotion Board (FIPB), Government of India
Now the country has two licensed companies to implement MNP-MNP Interconnection Telecom Solutions India Pvt Ltd – a joint venture between Telcordia and India’s Deepak Talwar Consultants Pvt Ltd. Earlier Telcordia got license for implementing MNP in mobile number portability in Zone 2, i.e. south and east India and decided to roll out number portability in Karnataka in the six months from the date of license signing.
Telcordia’s proposal for Foreign Direct Investment (FDI) had also been cleared by the Government of India. However, in a communication to the finance ministry, the home ministry also set some riders that mandated Telcordia USA to furnish credible information about its exact role in Pakistan.
