Bharti Airtel facilitates the Kerala prepaid subscribers to avail local intranet calls on a recharge for Rs 80 and Rs 14. Kerala subscribers can enjoy the local intranet calls at just 10p per minute and 30p per minute.
The recharge voucher Rs 80 is valid for 30 days and the subscribers can enjoy the local A2A calls at just 10p per minute. Similary recharge voucher Rs 14 offers a local own net calls at 30p per minute.

Telcordia gets DoT license for MNP execution

Telcordia, US based fixed, mobile, and broadband communications software and service provider gets approval from Department of Telecommunications (DoT) to implement the mobile number portability (MNP) service in India. This announcement comes after the application filed by Telcordia, and received the final clearance from the Foreign Investment Promotion Board (FIPB), Government of India
Now the country has two licensed companies to implement MNP-MNP Interconnection Telecom Solutions India Pvt Ltd – a joint venture between Telcordia and India’s Deepak Talwar Consultants Pvt Ltd. Earlier Telcordia got license for implementing MNP in mobile number portability in Zone 2, i.e. south and east India and decided to roll out number portability in Karnataka in the six months from the date of license signing.
Telcordia’s proposal for Foreign Direct Investment (FDI) had also been cleared by the Government of India. However, in a communication to the finance ministry, the home ministry also set some riders that mandated Telcordia USA to furnish credible information about its exact role in Pakistan.

DoT has asked the new entrant S-Tel to halt its operations in Himachal Pradesh, Bihar & Orissa circles till further orders in the interest of national security. S-Tel has launched its operations in the three circles only three months back and has a user base of over 8 lakh as of now. DoT in its letter to S-Tel hasnt specified any reasons for the sudden move however sources said that the company’s network is yet to cleared by the security agencies.

S Tel Pvt Ltd is a joint venture between the Siva Group and Batelco(Bahrain Telecommunications Co ) and had launched services in the three circles starting December 2009. S-Tel has licences for Himachal Pradesh, Orissa, Bihar, Jharkhand, Jammu and Kashmir and Assam circles but is operational only in the three circles as of now.

Videocon To Launch GSM Mobile Services In 100 Cities In 100 Days

Consumer durables Major Videocon today announced that in next 100 Days it will be rolling out its commercial GSM mobile services in 100 Cities across India begins from today and expects 10 million subscribers in three to four years of the launch.

In our earlier post we shared Videocon Mobile Services is Expected to Debut In Mumbai On March 07 like we quoted the service will announced today in a popular Hindi TV channel Colors by 7pm with special launch event dubbed as “Dhamake Ka Signal” hosted by Bollywood star Salman Khan, Shahid Kapoor and Shaan.

The core 2G network is live in few parts of the city but there is no sign of SIM cards availability we believe SIM cards will be available by Monday.

According to the earlier announcement the company plans to use its extensive all-India dealer network (over 10,000 existing Videocon dealers) to reach customers and expects to have 10 millionsubscribers (on a conservative basis) in 3-4 years of launch. The operator also tie-up with Planet-M” & “Next” electronics Retail outlets to sale its GSM SIM Cards

Videocon Telecommunication Ltd (VTL) which is recently renamed from Datacom to Videocon Mobile Service is the subsidiary of consumer durables Major Videocon Group

It was one of the eight new operators who has UAS licenses for 15 telecom circles in January 2008 to provide Mobile Telecommunications services.
